The United States Men's National Team will kickoff 2011 with an international friendly against Chile on January 22nd. The exhibition will not be played on a FIFA international fixture date so the USMNT roster will be limited to Major League Soccer and Scandinavian teams who are in their offseasons. The plan is to use the game to prepare the USMNT for the CONCACAF Gold Cup next Summer (Tournament begins June 5th). The Gold Cup is important this year because the winner earns a spot in the 2013 Confederations Cup.
US Soccer has also planned to organize an exhibition against Argentina in Seattle some time in March. The game would take place on a FIFA fixture date making all player eligible. Nothing has been made official.
