The stage is set. On May 28th, 2011 The Greatest Team in The World will face The Greatest Manager in The World. This is a rematch of the 2009 Champions League Final that took place almost exactly two years ago (May 27th, 2009). Barcelona defeated Man Utd in the Final that year with a final score of 2-0 (Samuel Eto'o 10', Lionel Messi 70') and became the first club in Spain to win the treble consisting (La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Champions League). That same year, Barça also became the first football club ever to win six out of six competitions in a single year, the sextuple, comprising the aforementioned treble and the Spanish Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
Instead of playing in the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Manchester United will be playing just 200 miles away from Old Trafford in front of 90,000. The location? Wembley Stadium, The Venue of Legends. Will this rematch result in the same result? or will Manchester United emerge as Champion of Europe for the first time since 2008? We will find out on May 28th.
