US U-20 prodigy Omar Salgado from El Paso, Texas has been given a two-week trial by Everton manager David Moyes. The 17 year old Striker was one of the favorites in Chivas de Guadalajara's youth system but opted to represent the United States and play on the U-20 team. His decision made him ineligible to play for Chivas because Chivas'youth policy states that all players must be eligible to play for Mexico in order to be part of the team. Salgado signed a deal with MLS in July, and was predicted to be a Top 5 pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft this January.
This is not the first time Everton has shown interests in Amiercan players, University of Maryland and U-20 goalkeeper Zac MacMath trained with the team before the start of the NCAA. In addition Everton's starting goalkeeper, as we all know, is American Tim Howard and American Super Star Landon Donovan joined Everton for a 3 month loan earlier this year.
